Bill's Corner- Am Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and activity eased last Friday after a busy week in the eastern spruce lumber market. There were some last-minute needs covered but most buyers had retreated from the market. Also published prices on 2x4 came out slightly lower helping to diminish activity and limit transactions. Buyers wanted to see what the mills would have to start the new week before making more commitments. There was some positive news with mortgage rates continuing to decline and builders voicing having solid order files, keeping confidence high for steady business ahead. Eastern mill shipments are for next week with some even further, bumping up against the holiday shutdowns.
