Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Buyers tried to instill business in the lumber market yesterday. They poked and prodded the eastern mills to take heavy counters or to ship material quick, much to no avail. The mills stood their ground yielding little. They protected order files they did have, not selling against them. They did offer discounts on selective items but for deliveries well into February. Distributors with quick wood also snubbed the big counters but did give some allowance to keep orders flowing. With the futures market trading at a discount to cash, interesting opportunities presented themselves to locking in prices on future wood.
