Strong demand kept a high volume of orders flowing in the lumber market yesterday. The reloads saw a good portion of the business as the eastern mills struggled to have product to offer. Prices were higher on the few items that did become available. Buyers had very little time to decide whether to pay up to have. Growing uncertainty caused many to fill in with only what was necessary. Nine foot and shorter stud lengths were very difficult to source. Railcar issues and a shortage of truckers continue to hamper deliveries, adding to the backlog of orders to ship.

Given shortages and relative cost of services (assuming cost of services is rising lower than the cost of product), are you seeing increased use of remans services or pencil trimming on these difficult-to-source products?

The use of these services has been growing but there is a lack of capacity for the current demand.
