Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The higher asking prices sought by eastern mills had a numbing effect on sales to start the week in the lumber market yesterday. The differences from last Friday’s published print numbers were dramatic. Sales were off as a result, but market activity remained very strong. Sourcing heavy demand and chasing late shipments encompassed much time and energy. Trying to establish where the market values are on many items was difficult as there were few comparisons between the mills to gauge them by. Buyers were unsure and constantly second guessing themselves.
