Market activity and sales picked up in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Strong demand pulled buyers back into the market, some having to pay up to get what they needed, while others could not find what they wanted. Product availability was scattered among the eastern mills along with notable price differences between them. Mill shipments continue to be a minimum of two weeks, with many taking longer. There was a major fire at Eacom’s Timmins Ontario sawmill planer Monday, shutting down their production and shuffling orders to other Eacom mills.
