Less product, higher prices, late shipments, and steady demand were all things traders dealt with in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Much energy was spent tracking where orders were, many running 1 to 2 weeks late, some even longer. Eastern mills have material on the ground, but their shipping order files are 3 to 4 weeks, mainly due to the lack of truckers. Freight rates have skyrocketed adding to the anxiety. What was a profitable order coming from the reloads turned sour. All was not lost though as it was a respectable trading day with a good array of orders being transacted.
