Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

It was a hectic start to the week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was strong, need apparent. Product availability was scattered. Delayed or late shipments were commonplace. The search for quick wood, meaning mid-March or sooner, took center stage. If product was found and could ship, it was bought. There were no second thoughts, no hesitation. Price was secondary, a footnote it seemed. There were offerings available from the eastern mills for mid-April shipment, but this drew little enthusiasm. Materials were needed sooner, much sooner.

Bill,

Would you say these buys that are “shipment dependent” are more necessary or insurance?
