There were many challenges in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Searching for available lumber from the mills to trade with, high prices at every turn, chasing after late shipments especially with the mills, absorbed much time and effort for traders. Frustration was high. Steady demand though and low overall inventories led to a positive day for sales. Many wanted to stay away from buying, especially with prices approaching record levels again, but an ongoing and consistent takeaway of inventory dictated paying up for product more often than not.
