New orders for the eastern spruce mills were down considerably in the lumber market last week. Consequently, prices stalled on most items except for 8’ stud items which showed resiliency and appreciated further. There was uncertainty in the market as concerns outside the lumber market weighed heavily on buyer sentiment and overall activity. Transportation, with the lack of available drivers, continued to saddle the efficiencies of the mills and allowing them to get ahead of their order files.
