Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

There was more emphasis on getting orders than chasing down late shipments with the eastern spruce mills in the lumber market yesterday. Buyers turned their attention to finding pockets of inventory the mills had and that they were willing to trade on. The holdup was, the mills were ultraconservative as to when they would deliver what they were offering, since many of their current shipments were running 2 to 4 weeks later than anticipated or sold for. This kept the volume of transactions down, although there was a marked improvement from the previous day’s tally.
