Sales dropped off in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The fear of eroding prices kept buyers away. There were some wide differences in prices seen or heard in the market. There was more emphasis on trying to find ways of getting late mill shipments delivered. The logistical nightmares continued for the eastern Canadian mills with the lack of available truckers that can haul product to the states. Some mills were also restricting where they would deliver. The movement of railcars out of eastern Canada was improving but the backlog of orders waiting to ship was huge.
