Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Logistics and late shipments were a primary focus in a quieter start to the lumber market yesterday. Clients were more concerned about getting what was on order than buying more. It was common to have mill shipments running 2 to 4 weeks late. To further exacerbate the situation, the Canadian Pacific railroad experienced a work stoppage on Sunday, halting rail traffic throughout their system. The mills did have a varied supply of product to offer but getting the product to market was the challenge. The hope for improvement dimmed with the CP rail strike.
