It was a challenge getting orders in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Clients needed material but uncertainty and doubt pervaded mindsets, keeping transactions low. The eastern mills were willing to trade somewhat on price but not to the extent that some wanted. Clients also wanted material quickly, which was a stumbling block for many eastern mills as the lack of truckers continued to hamper shipments. Although business was off, there were still many positive signs in the market that kept activity humming. There was no lack of inquiry or needed products for jobs at various stages of development.
