There were improved sales in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand and inquiry remained strong. Weak prices opened opportunities for clients to come to the market and shore up lean inventories. The prolonged trucking issues facing many eastern Canadian mills are impacting their ability to sell. Clients are gravitating to more readily available products such as in the recent arrivals of European spruce to U. S. ports or southern yellow pine in general. Granted they still have logistical issues, but they seem less pronounced, giving them better availability to the market.
