Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

A large drop in published print prices on many items last Friday had its effect in the eastern spruce lumber market, keeping sales volumes low. Clients were uncertain how to react if react at all. Some did though, not afraid to put out offers to those who would listen. Much of the business was transacted from distributor’s inventories as continued trucking issues hampered efforts, notably from eastern Canadian mills to compete. Retailers had a busy week moving lumber through their yards last week setting the stage for a busy week ahead.

Thank youi @william_giguere ! Retailers @Craig_Parker and team take note!

“Retailers had a busy week moving lumber through their yards last week setting the stage for a busy week ahead.”

What I find interesting is the large published drop in prices did not spike sales, but rather depressed them. It seems like

“Clients were uncertain how to react if react at all”

is a good indication of how people in the industry are feeling at various parts of the supply chain …
