Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Lower prices in the lumber market yesterday spurred activity and some buying. Retailers and manufacturers were more willing to throw out offers at the mills for materials they could wait for, and bargain with distributors for the items they needed more quickly. Successes varied. The difficult challenge was trying to keep inventories lean and manageable in the face of falling prices and steady takeaway. Added to this were the ongoing struggles many mills still faced of getting their products to market and into client’s hands, although progress was seen.
