Although sales were not as robust as many would have liked in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, there was an encouraging tone to the market. Some items were getting attention and finding a trading level. Also, the lower prices in the marketplace set the stage for tempting mill offerings for those that could wait to get material. These afforded opportunities to take risk off the table, by securing a percentage of product needed for upcoming commitments, while taking advantage of delayed mill shipments and soft prices.
