Activity and sales picked up for the eastern spruce mills in the lumber market yesterday, making it the best sales day of the week for them. Whether there was a need to buy, or it was planning a little ahead, buyers came to the market and traded with the mills to secure product. With prices going down, the mills considered offers and reacted to the ones that fit what they had. Although many eastern mills are still having logistical issues as to when and where they can ship, the backlog of late orders has diminished, and some new orders are shipping sooner than later.
