Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The lumber market lost some of its steam yesterday. Overall sales were off their recent pace. A shroud of uncertainty enveloped the market as economic and outside influences impacted decision makers. Clients were not as anxious to buy, lacking a sense of urgency, yet many remained very busy with solid and ongoing takeaway. Some eastern mills had product they could deliver within 2 weeks while others could not do better than 4 weeks. Attempting to grasp the current market and what to do, was like trying to grab a fish flopping around a boat deck in 12-foot seas.
