Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity and sales perked up in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Although slow to start, demand increased during the day as dealers set their sights on and bought certain items of need, such as 9’ and 10’ trims. The mills sold what they could, not overcommitting as to when they could deliver. The lack of truck drivers handcuffed how much they could take on. The time lag of getting material from them lengthened with each new order. Some mills could only offer June deliveries, restricting what they could sell. Several items available earlier in the day were not by day’s end.
