Activity slowed in the lumber market on Friday, although there were some opportunities that did find some interested buyers. Another steep decline in prices kept buyers at bay most of the week, despite a growing feeling that prices were nearing a bottom. Thoughts and reasons of why were given but missing was the spark to ignite a change in direction. Traders were vying with each other, trying to manipulate and extract firm offers to get orders. Logistics improved at the mill level, mainly due to a lack of orders to ship and not because more drivers became available.
