Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Strong demand ignited heavy activity in the lumber market yesterday. There was wide participation from the retail community, enabling a stellar day of orders for many traders. The mills sold into the strength of the activity, firming up prices on what they had available to sell. The items they went off the market on sold at higher prices than what they had earlier in the week, most notably on 2x4 and 2x6-9’ stud lengths. Eastern mill shipping order files pushed into the second week of July. Logistical problems have not gone away with mills and reloads still experiencing delays and dropped loads.
