Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand continued to ramp up in the lumber market yesterday. Participation grew, noticeably from retail yards wanting to cover upcoming jobs or simply to shore up depleted inventories. The eastern mills were able to boost prices on several items with the increased activity. They were also able to build on their order files which extend for many into mid-July. Although logistics have improved somewhat for U.S. mills, problems persist at the ports and more noticeably for eastern Canadian mills, many of which have limited truck capacity.
