Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Strong demand and sales boosted prices in the lumber market last week. Prices bottomed and turned higher on many products, primarily on high grade dimension and stud items. Demand increased daily as more concerns grew confident to cover needs for the near term. The eastern mills sold steadily and were able to build on order files, especially on their shipping schedules which extend into mid-July. Quick shipping lumber was limited and more difficult to arrange as the week progressed. Voids in reload inventories were also very noticeable by week’s end.
