Once again strong demand fueled another round of hectic activity in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The orders generated bolstered eastern mill order files and taxed their already limited shipping capacities. Several of the eastern Canadian mills were off the market on many items, unable to produce more of them prior to their summer shutdowns. This left fewer options for clients to get what they may need in the upcoming weeks. Reliance on distributor’s inventories increased, especially for in-demand items and getting them in a timely manner.
