Bill's Corner-An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The intent by many concerns to cover upcoming needs kept traders busy and activity humming in the lumber market yesterday. Buyers found slim pickings from the eastern mills but there were enough there and from other sources that generated a healthy dose of orders. Prices continued to climb higher on several items, most notably and more so on nine-foot trim lengths. Low grade items lagged their higher-grade counterparts both in price and demand. Mill accumulations on low grade kept prices in check if not opportunistic. Panel products were exceptionally active yesterday.
