Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Although the sales pace was off yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market, there was ample interest in what prices were doing and what products were available to buy. The eastern mills had little to offer for quick shipment but had much more for mid to late August. This had buyers hesitant, thinking that the extra supply then would put added pressure on already stalled prices. The dilemma is that clients have been busy while keeping a tight rein on inventories. With prices at the lower end of historically yearly trends, one question becomes how much more can you really save by waiting?

Reminds me of a teetering seesaw, buyers with light inventories today… sellers with heavier inventory down the road. How will this one balance out? …
