Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity and sales cooled in the lumber market last week. As a result, prices drifted lower throughout the week. The eastern U.S. mills struggled to sell the items they had available, developing some accumulations of them by week’s end. Several eastern Canadian mills begin their second week of their summer shutdowns. They return to production next week with many able to deliver product the week after. Client buying philosophies remained relatively unchanged, filling in when needed and being conservative on purchases as uncertainty dominated mindsets. This post will be on hiatus, returning Tuesday August 9th.
