Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Although transactions were lite in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, there was more energy and confidence seen among traders. Whether it was the mills selling without having to lower prices drastically or that dealers were looking to lock in material, attitudes seem to have shifted. Distributors, having constant takeaway, were very active buyers, especially if it was quick shipping from the mills. The hot items were 2x4 random #2- and nine-foot trims. Thoughts that a sell off by the mills was materializing quickly changed as they became more defensive in their quotes.
