Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

It was a much different eastern spruce lumber market witnessed yesterday. Demand and activity exploded. Distributors and dealers were in heavy, buying and covering what was needed and then some. As a result, eastern mills attained higher numbers on successive sales throughout the day while extending their order files into early September. Many of them went off the market on the heavier traded items, especially on straight lengths such as 9’s, 10’s and 16’s. By all accounts the current market had formed a bottom with prices moving higher.
