Demand continued to fuel strong takeaway in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Although transactions were not as robust as the day’s prior, they were quite healthy, nonetheless. The multi-family segment has been the leading force in the recent surge of activity. Busy dealers also showed confidence in current prices by continuing to beef up inventories with yesterday’s purchases. The eastern mills had fewer items to sell but did attain higher numbers on what they did have. Distributors were also very active with quicker deliveries but were protective of key lengths.
