There was good activity and a constant stream of demand in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Missing was the volume of orders to back it up. There were transactions but it was a far cry from what most were expecting. Clients did not have the urgency or desire to buy much. Wholesale quotes continued to be very aggressive, all vying to find a foothold on any potential order. Clients heard lower numbers it seemed on every phone call. The eastern mills pushed and prodded to find interest on anything they had available but found little.
