It was quieter in the eastern spruce lumber market last Friday ahead of the long holiday weekend. There were some orders on good demand despite the lack of players in the market. Prices did drop last week but not as dramatic as some would have liked. The mills were more resistant to lowering their prices too much. Higher costs were the main reason why. Their mindset was that demand would pick up ahead of the upcoming fall building season. They also know that dealers and manufacturers remain quite busy and that inventories are quite low in the field.
