Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The eastern spruce lumber market went through discovery yesterday. After the long holiday weekend, traders tried to get a feel for the market and a semblance of where prices are. The mills used last Friday’s published prices as a starting point while wholesalers went with a more aggressive approach, tempting with price to steer orders their way. Those with inventory sold with confidence while those without took their chances, thinking they would find what they would need. Demand was steady although orders for the day fell short of what the mills were looking for.
