It was a very busy day for the eastern spruce mills in the lumber market yesterday. Demand was strong from the onset. The eastern mills were peppered early and often as buyers wasted no time covering anything they had left over from last week. The mills took small counters to start but quickly firmed up prices as the activity escalated and orders were achieved. Traders came out aggressive with their quotes but quickly changed tactics sensing a change in the market and seeing the increased sales by the mills. The day ended on a more positive note than how it started.
