Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The activity did not let up in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was solid throughout the day with the mills continuing to sell, albeit not so much at higher prices but not having to take lower to do so. Production at most eastern mills remained steady, although some items were not as readily available as others. There was a fire at R Y Timber in Livingston, MT, destroying the planer mill. Ongoing talks with U.S. rail union workers was also of much concern as officials worked at trying to avert a strike, scheduled at week’s end.
