Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The sales pace kept up its momentum in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. There was widespread participation from dealers and manufacturers as replacing as you sell continued to be the principal buying philosophy in the marketplace. Steady supply from the mills kept prices in a narrow range with little movement either way. Mill shipments started pushing into early October with the orders received yesterday. Truck logistics for the most part have not been an issue lately, but all eyes are watching developments of a potential freight rail strike looming tomorrow.
