The sales pace slowed in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The market lacked the enthusiasm and energy that had been on display earlier this week. Prices sputtered after showing signs that they were ready to move higher. The steady flow of orders to the mills diminished as supply overtook demand. The mills were open to finding out where the market was on the items that were available for sale. They were willing to adjust slightly to keep the flow of orders coming. Aggressive quoting returned to the market as uncertainty overtook traders’ mindsets.
