Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity was light on Friday in the eastern spruce lumber market, although the overall week saw steady demand and a good flow of orders to the mills and distributors. Prices remained relatively unchanged with supply and demand seemingly in good balance. Production at the eastern mills was stable but product availability varied among them. Some items were more difficult to source such as 9’ trims. Generally, truck shipments from the mills are within 2 weeks but rail service can extend up to 3 to 4 weeks as cars are not so readily available.
