Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The spruce lumber market was a dichotomy within itself yesterday. The Canfor announcement of production reductions out west spurred wholesale short covering making some eastern mills very busy, but others not so. The futures market was up all day ending on a higher note but failed to add more excitement to the market. Dealers remained busy moving product while managing light inventories but economic uncertainty kept a rein on them buying any extra. Despite these distractions, traders were still able to forge ahead and scratch out a decent day of orders.
