Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Sales were lackluster in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Although activity picked up as the day progressed the market lacked the spark to inspire. Production outpaced demand making prices vulnerable, especially on the higher grades. The mills found it increasingly more difficult to sell. Buyers were disinterested and not motivated to buy. For traders it was like trying to push a rope upstream, little worked to sway clients to commit. There were some successes though with working mill accumulations as the mills were more willing to entertain firm offers to move them.
