Tuesday’s energy in the eastern spruce lumber market stimulated a banner day of sales yesterday. Demand was strong and orders flowed. More clients became convinced that committing to product now would save some money later. Some prices rose but many remained stable as the eastern mills were more willing to sell to build up an order file. The mills were also more defensive with their prices and at what levels they would sell at. They resisted counters on the items that sold well. The exceptions were the not often traded items such as low grade, 2x3 and board products.
