Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The eastern spruce lumber market livened up last week. Low prices inspired manufacturers and retailers to replenish dwindling inventories. The mills saw a vast array of orders on many different products. The resulting orders were a shot in the arm for the eastern mills, helping them bolster diminished order files. Current prices traded at levels not seen in several months. Prices were also consistent among the mills with product availability the difference between them. Based on the volume of orders transacted, mill shipping files are predominantly into the first week of December.
