It was a steady day of demand with a fair number of orders in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The lack of players in the market kept the volume of transactions low but surprisingly better than expected. The low prices in the marketplace continued to draw attention and spur activity. Buyers found opportunities from the mills and turned them into orders at prices relatively close to the market and mill asking. The futures market continued to trade at a premium to cash helping to bolster confidence in the direction of prices.
