Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

There was continued downward pressure on prices last week on the higher-grade items in the work shortened holiday week in the eastern spruce lumber market. The corrections were minor, yet they added to a continued cautionary buyer’s mindset. There were some transactions, mostly to cover upcoming needs and inventory voids. Also, the low prices were enticing to some that did illicit business, especially from manufacturers. The business was regulated primarily to Monday and Tuesday. Low grade products firmed with some moving higher.
