It was a quieter end to activity and sales in the eastern spruce lumber market last week. Prices were lower on the higher grades with adjustments made by both the mills and distributors during the week. In contrast, the combination of low supply and good demand kept prices firm on the lower grades. There was interest by retailers to consider longer term purchases as prices were at the lowest, they have been in several months. Uncertainty of the market and future demand kept client purchases to a minimum even though product continued to flow consistently through their yards.
