Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The pace of activity and sales dropped off significantly to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Lower prices did their part to influence buyers to stay away for the moment. The urgency to buy was absent, despite the lack of product available from the mills. It seemed that clients were comfortable with the inventories they had. They did not see or sense of any foreseeable change in the market to draw them back in to build an inventory. They were content to fill in as needed even though it may cost a little more to do so from the local reloads.
