Sales improved over the previous day’s tally in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Retailers were more active participants in the market, creating opportunities with the use of firm offers to the mills, distributors, or wholesalers. They had varied successes depending on the items and a willingness of the sources to sell. The irony in the market though that created mixed signals on the direction of prices was that the mills had items that were difficult to sell like 2x4 while they could not keep up production to meet the demand of other products such as in 2x6.
