Steady demand in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday prompted another good sales day for traders. There was the usual quick fill in from the reloads but there were several transactions from clients wanting to lock in inventory for the first quarter. A combination of low prices and the willingness by the eastern mills to ship then helped enable these orders. There was also growing concern by some Canadian mills of the impact that anti-dumping laws may have on them with the current low prices in the market. This shifted their focus on selling the higher valued items.
