Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Sales were not as robust last Friday in the eastern spruce lumber market as many of the lower priced offerings the mills had were gone. The mills sold well throughout the week enabling them to reestablish an order file. Mill shipments on most items are 2 weeks. The more heavily traded items were 2x4 and 2x6-9’ studs which reversed course and were priced higher by week’s end. Other items firmed in prices setting the stage for this week. It will be interesting to see if the mills start this week at the lower published numbers or ask higher on what they have available for sale.
